Research Focus
"Nurturing New Ground: Displaced Farmers and the Politics of Resource Control in the City of Cartagena, Colombia." My dissertation explores the material landscapes and political formations emerging at Cartagena’s margins through internally displaced farmers’ struggles for control over and access to urban farmland. My research takes an ethnographic approach centered on the relationship between people, plants and land to situate farmers’ agricultural practices within three interlocking processes: the production of nature, dispossession and urbanization
