‘Alternative Modernities’ in Rural Mexico.
I’m currently interested in innovative, producer-led local food networks in Mexico. These networks represent alternative political-economic and agrobiodiversity conservation strategies. I hope to determine the extent to which affiliation with these networks has reduced household and community livelihood vulnerability and increased their resistance and resilience in the face of climatic and economic instability. I hope to discern if and how the agroecological and institutional strategies employed by these networks create more just and sustainable food systems for other socio-ecological communities to learn from while supporting “un mundo donde quepan todos los mundos” (Zapatistas). |
