My doctoral research examines the potential of hedgerows planted in field margins to improve biological control services in vegetable agroecosystems and the socio-political incentives and disincentives for incorporating natural habitat in farms. I study insect-plant associations within hedgerows, insect dispersal rates from hedgerows and parasitism rates in adjacent vegetable fields. The overarching goal of my research is to explore the compatibility of agricultural production and conservation goals. |
