Research Focus
My research has concentrated on interactions between state and non-state actors at the interface of environmental science, policy and practice. Woven through these endeavors, I have engaged in two primary research areas: 1. issues in the cultural politics of climate change, and 2. transformations of carbon-based economies and societies These pursuits also intersect with issues of public understanding and engagement/action as well as ongoing considerations of ethics, environmental justice movements, and climate adaptation. To date, I have gained experience working in North America, Central America, South Asia and Europe. I am an Environmental Studies faculty member at the Center for Science and Technology Policy Research. Before joining the Center and University of Colorado-Boulder in Fall 2009, I was a Research Fellow in the Environmental Change Institute (ECI) as well as a Department Lecturer in the School of Geography at the Oxford University Centre for the Environment, beginning in 2006. At Oxford University, I was involved in both the Climate Change Research Cluster and the Environmental Governance and Climate Policy groups. I got my Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from the beloved University of California-Santa Cruz and Bachelor of Sciences from Ohio State University.
