Agrarian Change and Smallholder Resistance in Agua Buena, Costa Rica
This dissertation project is motivated by a concern to understand the effects of recent restructuring of the global coffee supply chain on farm-households and agroecosystems in Agua Buena, Costa Rica. I enroll an interdisciplinary suite of evaluative concepts and methodologies to a case study that will enable me to test rival theories of agrarian change, evaluate the impacts of alternative markets and agroecological diversification and unpack the discourses that feed a cultural politics of resistance to political economic restructuring. |
