Frequently Asked Questions

I want to do an internship. Where and how do I begin to go about it?

Come visit the office (ISB491) and check out our placement binders with over 200 local placements. Our staff can get you started in the right direction.

Can I get credit for an internship?

Yes! You may be able to get anywhere between 2 and 15 units of credit for an internship, depending on a variety of factors.

I'm not an environmental studies major; can I do an internship through this program?

Yes. The program is open to all UCSC students, provided the focus of the internship relates to environmental studies in some way.

What class level do I need to be to do an internship?

We have lower division and upper division internships available.

During which quarter is the internship offered?

All quarters, including summer.

When should I start planning my internship?

It's never too early to plan your internship. The more thought and preparation you put into it, the richer your learning experience will be. As a generalization, however, it is best to plan your internship one full quarter before you plan to do it.
