The weekly Santa Cruz newspaper Good Times has featured Environmental Studies doctoral student Alicia Calle's research on sustainable cattle farming in Colombia. Calle looks at ways cattle ranchers can help with forest restoration.
The Good Times writes:
"[Calle] realized that although cattle ranches are in Colombia to stay, managing them differently might be an effective way to restore forests. “If we really wanted to have cattle ranching in the tropics, we needed a form of ranching that was designed for the condition of the tropics,” Calle says.
