Summary of Expertise

I graduated from the University of Arizona with a BS in Soil, Water, and Environmental Science with an emphasis on soil and water and a minor in Chemistry.  I spent two and a half years working with Dr. Joan Curry on her research involving charged partical dynamics in suspensions and charged partical attachment mechanisms.  I am currently researching the rhixosphere priming effect under the guidance of Dr. Weixin Cheng.

Research Interests

I am broadly interested in carbon cycling in soil systems.  I study the relationship between roots and soil organic matter decomposition.  My current field work takes place at the Konza Biological Research Station in Manhattan, Kansas where a smalll portion of the native tallgrass prairie has been preserved.  I am also interested in soil structure and soil aggregate dynamics and how these properties are influenced by roots.

Teaching Interests

I enjoy teaching classes about soil, plant nutrition, agroecology, and agriculture.  I like being able to take the students out into the field so that they can gain hands on experience.
