Agency Description:

The Action for Sustainable Mother Earth project welcomes BIPOC and All and aims to steward and restore the biodiversity of our private land, on several plots where we have native plantings, through maintenance, ground preparation, garden work, invasive plant control, and plantings.  For biodiversity’s sake,  we believe that it is incumbent upon private landowners to assist in creating a more healthy Earth for all people and living beings. We acknowledge that we reside on the unceded territory of the ancestral Awaswas-speaking people and we share the philosophy of the present day Amah Mutsun Tribal Band and work toward kincentricity, social justice, and environmental protection.

Intern Responsibilities:

The intern is given the opportunity to partner and assist in stewardship and native restoration of our land by assisting in our native restoration projects; tasks include maintenance, ground preparation, garden work, invasive plant control, and plantings. Students will learn about our collective vision to create a more healthy Earth for all people and living beings, including how private landowners can be a part of increasing biodiversity on their lands. Students will also learn about the connection between native people’s and our shared work toward kincentricity, social justice, and environmental protection. We welcome BIPOC and All for this UCSC ES 2-unit internship, whereby students will receive a stipend as an appreciation of their services.

Other Requirements:

We are happy to teach and love to have interns who learn and then propel this learning into action for our Action for a Sustainable Mother Earth native restoration project.

Intern Shifts:

We are flexible with hours M-F from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Location: We are in Santa Cruz near the Mystery Spot and we provide our exact address when the student is accepted into our Action for a Sustainable Mother Earth internship project.
