Agency Description:

The Kapuscinski – Sarker Lab is working to develop new fish feed formulations to replace fishmeal and fish oil in conventional feeds with novel ingredients such as microalgae. The lab is also investigating the environmental and economic impacts of these novel aquafeeds and ways to reduce their impacts via integration with agriculture. 

Intern Responsibilities:

Interns will assist in daily fish care activities including taking water chemistry tests, feeding rainbow trout, cleaning and caring for their tanks, and assisting in experimental sampling events. Interns will also have the opportunity to assist in our benchtop laboratory space and assist in weekly water chemistry testing, sample preparation and analysis, and aquaculutre diet manufacturing. Interns will also assist in data collection and organization and participate in lab group meetings. 

Other Requirements:

Be comfortable working with live animals and in outdoor conditions.

Intern Shifts:

Shifts are generally Monday-Saturday 9-11am and 2:30-4:30pm, however there is some flexibility available in scheduling.
