Agency Description:

The Live Oak School District (LOSD) is creating a district run farm that can significantly expand the amount of organic produce served in our school meals and create agricultural education opportunities for our students and our community. By providing healthy and delicious school meals paired with nutrition education, culinary education, and education about local agriculture, we help lay the foundation for our students to be healthy eaters for life.

Intern Responsibilities: 

  • Student engagement – Participate in the set up and breakdown of student engagement activities such as field trips, class visits and summer farm camp. Support maintenance of the space such that it is ready at all times for student participation.
  • Farm – Support management of the crops. Manage propagation/ greenhouse work, soil fertility, composting, crop rotation, planting, cultivating, irrigation, pest and disease management

Other Requirements: 

Be comfortable working around K-8 students. Must fill out a volunteer packet and get fingerprinted for a back ground check with the district.

Intern Shifts: Shifts are flexible around students schedule Monday-Friday

Location: Del Mar Elementary School in Santa Cruz
