Agency Description:
Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project supports the recovery of endangered Central California Coast coho salmon primarily through the operation of an integrated conservation hatchery program. We work collaboratively with NOAA Southwest Fisheries Center and CDFW to breed and rear salmonids with careful consideration of genetics.
Intern Responsibilities:
Intern will help with spawning practices, egg rearing/inventory, fish husbandry, facility/trail maintenance, groundskeeping, and data keeping. Roles and responsibilities vary by season.
Other Requirements:
Intern must have reliable transportation, comfortable working outside in cold or rainy conditions, must be able to lift 25 pounds.
We also need volunteers! Any help we can get would be great. It’s a great opportunity for students to get familiar with fisheries biology.
Intern Shifts:
Shifts are flexible but vary by season:
- Spring, Summer, and Fall Quarter: please commit to one day per week (9am-12pm). Weekdays or Weekends acceptable.
- Winter quarter: Tuesdays or Thursdays (9am-2pm)
