Agency Description:
The mission of Santa Cruz Kids in Nature (KIN) is to foster enlivened and embodied children through year long experiential forest based learning, playing, and exploration of local wildlands. When these children truly feel like locals to the place in which they live, environmental stewardship grows into a joyful and daily practice. It is from this love of place, and the sense of belonging, that grounded, effective activism begins to take place.
Intern Responsibilities:
As an intern, you help contribute to the goals of this program, along with providing diverse perspectives for the children to learn from. Interns support an outdoor afterschool program focused on nature based learning and playing. Intern roles and responsibilities are assisting the teachers in group management, developing relationships with the children, being dependable and communicative, helping keep children having fun and being safe, learning and being into nature themselves, and sharing what you are passionate about!
Other Requirements:
Comfortable working with elementary aged children, playing games/hiking, and being outside in all seasons.
Intern Shifts:
Available shifts are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:10-5:05PM and Wednesday from 11:55-5:05PM. Students can sign up for shifts that fit their schedule to meet the required # of hours for their internship. We do ask that students stay for the entirety of the shift they sign up for and stick to the same schedule for the entire quarter.
