Agency Description:
Life Lab‘s mission is to cultivate children’s love of learning, nourishing food, and nature through garden-based education. We train and inspire current and future educators to use gardens as living laboratories to make learning fun, nourishing and connective. We host immersive, hands-on outdoor education programs for children in gardens.
Intern Responsibilities:
Interns will help maintain an educational garden as they develop their gardening skills. They will learn about garden design elements of a child-friendly garden, and general upkeep of plants and chickens. Interns are also required to review some readings and videos related to the activities we will be doing to be able to engage in discussion about topics such as soil health, compost, cover crop, planting strategies, etc.
Other Requirements:
Be comfortable working outside and getting your hands dirty. There will be some days with light rain in which we will do some outdoor activities as well.
Intern Shifts: Tuesdays 9am-2pm
Location: Life Lab Garden Classroom located on the UCSC Farm
