Agency Description:
The Rachel Carson Garden is a student-run garden on campus that aims to provide a fun and sustainable space for engaging with nature through events, classes, and workdays. It is centered in basic garden care and stewardship. This internship will also explore the connections between society, green spaces, and food justice. Maintained by students, it offers hands-on experience in growing food and caring for mature fruit trees, herbs, and annual plants.
Intern Responsibilities:
Interns will be expected to help with a variety of tasks around the garden to help with upkeep. These can include weeding, tending to compost, watering and general plant care; as well as assisting with larger projects like greenhouse structure maintenance. They should be comfortable doing some amounts of manual labor outside though accommodations can be made if necessary.
Other Requirements:
Be comfortable working outside and getting dirty
Intern Shifts:
Interns should be expected to attend community work days which are Sundays from 11-1
Location: Rachel Carson College Garden, below dining hall, behind AG dorms
