Agency Description:
We have studied mountain lions in the Santa Cruz Mountains since 2008. Our goals are to understand how mountain lions survive in an area that is highly-impacted by people, develop new research technologies, and educate the public. You can gain resume-building experience conducting cutting-edge research with large carnivores. We need interns who are proactive, independent, self-motivated, and communicate clearly.
Intern Responsibilities:
Intern will assist in processing and analyzing data collected by the Wilmers Lab research team. Tasks mainly include photo tagging camera trap imagery and labeling audio recordings using bioacoustic software. Interns will also have the opportunity to develop skills in R and GIS.
Intern Shifts:
Shifts are flexible, but time blocks to meet with interns to assign tasks are generally:
- Mondays 9am – 1pm
- Wednesdays 11am – 1pm
- Thursdays 12pm – 4pm
