Biography, Education and Training

Chris Lang is a graduate student in the UC Santa Cruz Environmental Studies department who believes in the power of zero waste and plant-based lifestyles. Chris practices Nichiren Buddhism to tap into the universal life force that connects us all. As a researcher, he focuses on the relationships between consumer behavior and environmental injustice, and hopes to connect communities in efforts to resist environmental extraction and toxicity and collectively manifest a just, circular economy. He hopes to integrate veganism with critical race theory and a passion for ocean sciences to pave new consumer production and demand in minority spaces for seaweed.
